Dear fellow Egyptian Students in North America,
On behalf of the new ESANA EC, I would like to thank the GA members for placing their trust
and confidence in us. I welcome the opportunity to benefit the association and look forward to a
fruitful year for all of us. As a team, we want to work on our issues together, represent your
interests, advocate on your behalf and contribute to the long term priorities of the association.
Thanks to the participaion and contribution of the GA members, we had a very productive GA Meeting in
Washington, DC on January 28-29, 2017. Starting with a great conversation with Mr. Yasser
Reda, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United States of America. Followed
by various discussions on ESANA progress during the last few years, before we conducted the
EC elections. A summary of the 2017 GA Meeting Report can be found here. On behalf of the
GA members, I would like to thank Dr. Mohamed Hamza, the Cultural Counselor and Director
of the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau (ECEB) in Washington, DC, and all the staff of
the ECEB for their hospitality and generosity.
The GA members also had a chance to revise the 2011 ESANA Constitution and propose some
amendments to address the issues that affect our association. Twelve amendments have been
discussed by the GA members; 9 have been ratified and 3 have been disapproved. A draft copy
of the 2017 ESANA Constitution along with the 2011 ESANA Constitution can be found here.
Please take a look at the draft version and let us know if you have any comments by March 13,
We, the new ESANA EC, will do our best to revive the association and re-establish its
connections with all Egyptian students in North America and the official Egyptian authorities
represented by the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureaus in USA and Canada.
In the end, allow me to reiterate my personal appreciation for your trust. I am very much looking
forward to your continued engagement and support.
